Provisioning SIP Device - Polycom

After the SIP Device has been created in the NEWT Cloud Portal, you will need to capture the Users SIP Device Credentials:

  1. Navigate to the Users tab in the Smart PBX App
    • Go to the Devices Column of the user, click on the device Icon
    • Select the device labelled SIP device or the device that has the handset iconSIP_Device_creds.png
    • Important step! Go to the Advanced tab -> Select Miscellaneous from the drop-down menu and ensure that Encrypt the Audio  is selected with type of encryption set to SRTP (if you need to make this correction, ensure you click save)
    • Back in the Basic Settings Tab, capture the Device Name, SIP Username, SIP Password (click in the box to reveal the password) and the Realm. Once you have that information captured, continue to the below provisioning instructions

Factory Reset the Handset if device is not new out of box

  1.  On your Handset, press the Home button
    • Go to Settings -> Advanced and enter password (456) this is a default password and may have been changed by the previous owner
    • Go to Admin Settings
    • Reset to defaults
    •  reset to factory
    • Select yes
  2. Navigate the phone settings to retrieve the IP Address
    • Select the Home button on the handset
    • Go to settings -> status -> network -> TCP/IP parameters
    • Under "IPv4 Addr" you will find the IP Address ( Example: 192.168.1.1)

       

       

Navigate to the Devices WebUI

  1. Enter the IP into your Browser (you may need to enter https:// before the IP) and click enter, you may also see the below warning, select advanced

  2. Now select the option displaying the message: proceed to 192.168.1.1 (this will display your IP address)
  3. Login As Admin
    • Enter 456 as the password this is a default password and may have been changed by the previous owner and click submit to log in.

Upgrade the Firmware for this device

  1. Go to the Utilities Tab along the top of the page and select Software Upgrade from the drop-down menu

  2. Select Check for Updates

  3. Select Install if updates are available, then select Yes

  4. You will be prompted with the below agreement. Read and accept to continue

Provisioning Set Up -> Settings Tab ->SIP

  1. Navigate to the Settings Tab along the top of the screen Select SIP from the drop-down menu

  2. Go to Digitmap field
    • Enter |xxxT as shown below followed by: |*x.T and |*x.T

The full pattern should look like: [2-9]11|0T|011xxx.T|[0-1][2-9]xxxxxxxxx|[2-9]xxxxxxxxx|[2-9]xxxT|**x.T|+x.T|xxxT|*x.T|*x.T

    • Click Save
    • You will be prompted with the below, select yes

Settings Tab  -> Lines

  1. Go to the settings tab at the top of the screen and select Lines from the drop-down menu

  2.  Using the device information for the user from the NEWT Cloud Portal that you obtained earlier, complete the table as follows:
    • Display Name: [Extension Number]
    • Address: [SIP Username] @[Realm] (Example: user_h3rn2deDte@Jasmine-TEST.sip.newtws.com)
    • Label: [Extension Number]
    • Type: Private
    • Third Party name: Leave blank
    • Number of Line Keys: [enter your preference]
    • Calls Per Line: [enter your preference]
    • Enable SRTP: Yes
    • Offer SRTP: Yes
    • Require SRTP: Yes
    • Server Auto Discovery: Disable

Your updates should resemble the below with your information included:

  1. Open the Authentication section and complete the table as follows:
    • Domain: [Realm]
    • User ID: [SIP Username]
    • Password: [SIP Password]

  1. Open the Outbound Proxy section and complete the table as follows:
    • Address: [Realm]

  1. Open the Server 1 section and complete the below table as follows:
    • Special Interop: Standard
    • Address: [Realm]
    • Port: 5060
    • Transport: DNSnaptr
    • Expires: 3600
    • Subscription Expires: 3600
    • Register: Yes
    • Retry Timeout: 0
    • Retry Maximum Count: 3
    • Line Seize Timeout:30
    • Click Save

Preferences Tab

  1. Go to the Preferences tab at the top of the page and select Date & Time from the drop-down menu complete the below table as follows:
    • Time Format: [select your preferences]
    • Date Format: [select your preferences]

  1. Open the Time Synchronization Section
    • Time Zone: [select your preferences]
    • Alternate Time Zone: [select your preferences]
      *All else must stay as default*
  2. Go back to the Preferences tab and select Additional Preferences from the drop-down menuPicture16.png
    • Select User Preferences
    • Enable One-touch voicemail
    • Click Save

Reboot the Phone

You may have received an automatic notification letting you know the phone will be rebooted.

If you did not, proceed to the below:

  1. Go to Utilities at the top of the screen
  2. Click on Reboot Phone from the drop-down menu
